Guy Tasaka is the Chief Digital Officer of Calkins Media, a family-owned local media company with television stations and newspapers in the eastern US. He is a 20-year veteran of legacy media starting at Macworld Magazine, Ziff-Davis and The New York Times and 10-year veteran of media technology start-ups. He considers himself the Forrest Gump of media disruption working on the launch of nytimes.com, the first major newspaper website, the Commercial Appeal, first paid content in local media and most recently Calkins Media’s OTT product launches. Guy and Calkins Media were the recipients of the 2015 Local Media Association’s Innovator of the Year award for their work in OTT. He is a native of Hawaii and graduate of the University of Oregon.
