James McClure has been editor of the York Daily Record/York Sunday News since 2004 and also serves as Atlantic Region editor for Gannett.
Before that, he was East Region Editor for Digital First Media.
He received the Pennsylvania Newspaper Foundation’s John Fisher Internet Vision Award in 2010, the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association’s Ben Franklin Award for Excellence in 2013.
McClure is the author or co-author of seven books on York County history and has edited many others. He writes regular entries posts in his York County journalism/history blog, York Town Square, and curates the York Daily Record’s Retro York website and other products that are part of this digital content vertical. He also is a curator of the YDR’s Fixing York content vertical, a Facebook group and other initiatives that seek solutions to community issues.
He holds master’s degree in American Studies from Penn State Harrisburg, where his research focus was on York County journalism history.
McClure is past president of Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors and past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors.
