Director of Media Innovation, Banjo
Victor Hernandez is the Director of Media Innovation at Banjo, where he is responsible for growing strategies and goal setting with media partnerships and outreach, in addition to influencing product teams and technology roadmap planning. Hernandez concurrently leads cutting-edge exploration and reporting on the impact of wearable technologies on newsrooms as a 2015-2016 non-residential fellow at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute. Prior to Banjo, Hernandez spent 12 years at CNN working extensively within the organization’s news editorial leadership ranks and product technology areas. He most recently served as the company’s ‘News Futurist,’ and was charged with shaping new media strategies against CNN’s journalistic objectives and organizational opportunities. Hernandez also served as CNN’s Director of National Coverage, where he oversaw the network’s domestic newsgathering operations including the managing of strategic responses to breaking news and in-depth coverage. He has earned prestigious Peabody awards for news coverage of Hurricane Katrina and BP oil spill disasters and was named to the Society of Professional Journalist’s 20 Journalists/Industry Thinkers You Should Know list , 50 People in Media You Should Subscribe to on Facebook and Poynter Institute’s 35 most influential people in social media. He lives in Las Vegas with his wife and Hank, their adorable English Bulldog.
