Maria Archangelo is the publisher and executive director of the Philadelphia Public School Notebook.
The Notebook is an independent, nonprofit news service that focuses on issues of public education that are of vital importance to the city of Philadelphia. Established first as a quarterly newspaper, the Notebook is now updated daily online and a print edition is published six times per year, providing news and commentary.
Archangelo began her career as a reporting intern at The Philadelphia Inquirer before moving to Maryland, where she was a reporter at The Baltimore Sun and later managing editor at Patuxent Publishing Co., which became the Baltimore Sun Community News Group. After 11 years, she moved to Vermont, where she worked as the editor of the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus, and as publisher and general manager of the Stowe Reporter and Waterbury Record.
She took a brief detour from traditional journalism and led an international community magazine project, then served as a director of communications and marketing for a legal software startup before joining the Notebook in March 2016.
